Take Charge Corvallis believes that Every Action Matters. It highlights the idea that many hands make light work. Even the simple action of turning off a computer when not in use is a first step that contributes to reducing our overall energy consumption in Corvallis.
As a semi-finalist in the Georgetown University Energy competition, Corvallis has everything needed to win the grand prize of $5 million. The city that reduces their residential and municipal energy use the most makes it to the finals, and we are one of fifty communities vying for a top ten spot.
Take Charge Corvallis aims to achieve this goal by encouraging the residents of Corvallis to get involved. They are cooperating with the city, community members and student-interns to to promote and advocate ideas of resource efficiency to the community.
The best way for YOU to Take Charge can be found on the Communities Take Charge website. After a short registration, choose three to five energy saving actions. A month later, provide feedback to see how well you followed through with those actions.
By completing energy saving actions, you are not only contributing to a worldwide fight against climate change but also reducing your electricity/gas bills. And don’t forget, you are also helping Corvallis win a $5 million prize needed for further development of clean and renewable energy projects in our community. Even small things will lead to great achievements simply because each and every action matters.
