There’s a lot to consider when it comes to home improvement, from lifestyle to finances to personal values. After you answer the big questions, delving into the small details is just part of the fun!

To get started, let’s take a step back and focus on the three main questions you’ll want to ask yourself:

Which upgrades are right for my home?

Home Energy Use

What financial assistance exists to help pay for home upgrades?

New, efficient technology can be expensive! However, there are many financial incentives to help bring down the price of efficiency upgrades, making them more affordable. Incentives typically come in the form of utility incentives and/or tax credits.

Utility Incentives
  • Pacific Power customers can receive incentives from Energy Trust of Oregon.
    • Note: Energy Trust of Oregon also offers incentives for NW Natural customers
  • Consumers Power customers can receive incentives directly from CPI.

Other Financing Programs

  • Seeds for the Sol is a local program that provides zero-interest loans to homeowners looking to install solar.
  • Enhabit offers instant rebates and no-money-down financing to help homeowners make upgrades to their home.

Who can I contact to help me with home upgrades?

If you’re ready to start looking for a local contractor, we recommend choosing from Energy Trust’s list of Trade Allies. The contractors on this list are knowledgeable about efficiency and most will even be willing to help you with incentive paperwork.
