The mission of Corvallis Environmental Center (CEC) is to educate, engage, and inspire people to get involved in creating a healthy, sustainable community. The CEC began in 1994 as a grassroots effort to take action on environmental issues, and today reaches over 15,000 people with programs and services in the areas of environmental science education, local food security and energy & climate action.

Position
The Development Coordinator will participate as a central member of the development team at the CEC and support all development efforts as the Corvallis Environmental Center continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Development Coordinator will help build and create a healthy, sustainable development program at the CEC that includes event planning and execution, donor cultivation and retention, community outreach and engagement, and database management. A successful candidate will be passionate about CEC’s mission, enjoy fundraising, be a self-starter and highly organized, and have a flexible and adaptive approach. The Development Coordinator will report to the Development Director.

Responsibilities

  • Actively work with the CEC development team to develop and implement the CEC’s annual fundraising plan and long-term development strategies, which include direct mail and phone campaigns, online giving, major gifts, legacy gifts, special events, business sponsorships, and grants.
  • Work with the Development Director to secure financial support from individuals and businesses
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors and business partners
  • Plan and implement fundraising events, including but not limited to the annual EarthBall celebration
  • Solicit business sponsorships and in-kind donations
  • Coordinate with support staff, vendors, volunteers and others for fundraising events and fundraising campaigns
  • Design and implement online giving campaigns
  • Manage the donor database and oversee data entry and gift processing
  • Coordinate donor appreciation, including thank you notes and other donor recognition efforts
  • Track donor activity and provide reports on fundraising campaigns
  • Represent CEC at community events and public speaking engagements
  • Participate in outreach and networking events
  • Assist in writing and reporting on capacity-building grants
  • Manage development interns

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 1-3 years of experience in a development, events, and/or outreach capacity in nonprofit setting
  • Event planning experience
  • Experience with individual donation campaigns
  • Experience utilizing social media and crowdfunding to support fundraising efforts
  • Outstanding relationship building skills and ability to connect with people
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or other database systems
  • A self-starter; able to take initiative and be self-directed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively


This is a .8FTE position. Salary is DOE, $23,300-$28,300. Occasional work on evenings and weekends is required. The position is open until filled. The Corvallis Environmental Center recruites and hires team members by following all EEOC policies and practices
